Before using this medication, read this card and the instruction leaflet inside the box.
Tell your doctor that you’re taking metronidazole if you need other medicines or treatment.
Make sure you’ve told us about any allergies or medical conditions you have and any other medicines you take before you start this treatment.
This medication is safe to use during pregnancy or when breastfeeding. It can cause breast milk to taste different, which may cause some difficulties with feeding.
You should not drink alcohol while taking this medication and for 48 hours (2 days) after your last dose. Metronidazole can interact with alcohol and cause side effects like being sick, flushing or a racing heart. Even small amounts of alcohol can bring on side effects.
How to take metronidazole
Take 1 tablet twice a day for 7 days.
Swallow with water during or after a meal. Do not chew the tablets.
Take all of the tablets, even if your symptoms improve before you finish the course.
